I’ve refrained from commenting on this for a myriad of reasons. But this move is a start. I think he should be disbarred, charged, fired, jailed and sued with sovereign immunity removed. But that’s just me.
If you’re to the right of me you can add tarring and feathering.

I have been following this one from the outset - yeah, I know, surprise, surprise.
My predictions
- Nifong will be recused and possibly sanctioned.
- All charges will be dropped.
- The three accused will be known forevermore as having “got away with it”.
My wishlist
- That the case goes ahead and the accused be fully exonorated.
- Guidelines for presecutorial behaviour be strengthened.
- That those responsible for inciting racist and sexist hatred early on be hauled over the coals - particularly the Duke 88.
Have you read Tom Wolfe’s book “I am Charlotte Simmons”? Rather interesting, in light of these events.
Regrettably I agree almost entirely with you. My betting is that the charges will be dropped either just before or just after the hearings on the 5th of February.
As for the Duke 88, I agree, contemptible academic misconduct. I’d like to see each and every one of them censured, and I’d like to see far more severe punishment for Peter Wood who seems to have told outright lies about some of the athletes.

I’ve only read a synopsis of the Wolfe book. I suspect I’d have to read it to see the connections.
Let me add to my list.
What disturbs me about this whole thing
- The lynch mob mentality that prevailed in the early stages.
- The willingness of so many, including educators, to simply ignore one of the most basic principles of our democracy.
- The underlying misandry, unfortunately lost amongst race issues, whereby one woman’s word is given greater credence than that of over forty men.
- The denigration, even in the national mass media, of an entire group of young men based on the presumed actions of a couple of them.
- Disciplinary action against a group the majority of whom MUST have been innocent.
That a DA would push the envelope doesn’t surprise me. He will end up the fall guy in this episode. If my predictions are correct these events will be portrayed by future feminists as a crime against all women. They will maintain that the rape occured as originally claimed and that everybody else let the “victim” down.
You are likely correct that the charges will be dropped at the February hearings. I will wait with interest for any announcement that the accuser is to be charged. When and if that happens will be the signal for the feminist screeching to begin.
@wolfe.
Interesting that NONE of the women have anything to say about this.
@G Many things puzzle me. That is certainly one. Were I a woman, I’d be extremely concerned about the direction the concept of rape and accusations of same has been headed in — socially and legally.
