IQ is a QUOTIENT. It is a measure of a person’s rarity of intelligence ability against the average. It does not measure intelligence directly. Nobody does that. You are right in that it correlates with intelligence, but it certainly is not a linear correlation.
I will describe its original definition in simple terms: it was defined as an age and ability multiple at the age of 11. For simplicity, we’ll pretend it was at age ten. In that system, IQ means this:
A 10-year-old with IQ 70 is as smart as the average 7-year-old.
A 10-year-old with IQ 80 is as smart as the average 8-year-old.
A 10-year-old with IQ 90 is as smart as the average 9-year-old.
A 10-year-old with IQ 100 is as smart as the average 10-year-old.
A 10-year-old with IQ 110 is as smart as the average 11-year-old.
A 10-year-old with IQ 120 is as smart as the average 12-year-old.
A 10-year-old with IQ 130 is as smart as the average 13-year-old.
A 10-year-old with IQ 140 is as smart as the average 14-year-old.
A 10-year-old with IQ 150 is as smart as the average 15-year-old.
A 10-year-old with IQ 160 is as smart as the average 16-year-old.
A 10-year-old with IQ 170 is as smart as the average 17-year-old.
A 10-year-old with IQ 180 is as smart as the average 18-year-old.
A 10-year-old with IQ 190 is as smart as the average 19-year-old.
A 10-year-old with IQ 200 is as smart as the average 20-year-old.

This is the first definition of IQ, but is so hard to measure below 70 and above 130 that a new definition based on rarity is now used.
This new definition is scaled so that certain numbers of people fall into each range in order to fit the Gaussian distribution curve. It says nothing about relative brain power, only relative rarity and ranking.
It is a measure of how many people are capable of answering the harder and harder questions in the tests, and not a direct measure of the relative difficulty in answering the questions. Many of the questions are of a type that 150 IQ questions cannot be answered by 2 100-IQ people, or one 100-IQ person taking twice as long at it. No matter how many people cooperate on the question, only the genius makes any sort of contribution. How would you measure that?
A person with IQ = 100 does not answer twice as many questions as someone with IQ = 50. A 50 IQ is very poor and the person with that IQ is retarded and wouldn’t be able to answer anything. Someone with 200 IQ can do things a million people with 100 IQ would never be able to do in a thousand years, they are not simply “twice as smart” - its impossible to fathom how much smarter they really are.

Basically, 10%(say) more IQ is more than 10% more intelligence. The scale is highly non-linear.IQ is a measure of one’s place on a ranked distribution, that is all.

All that said, IQ can't 'measure' intelligence as such.Da Vinci may have scored a 100 on a Mensa test.Know why?He wouldn't understand more than half of the things said there.Seriously though, men are on average more intelligent than women - and not by a very slight margin as you stress. In mathematic, visuo-spatial, analytical and logical intelligence - a lot better. In creativeness - far, far better.I've yet to see a decent woman composer, chess player, military leader or pilot(there are many more I'd like to add, but no time.)

Women, on the other hand, tend to be better at learning and understanding things better and quicker than men. They are also better communicators. That apart, men are considerably smarter and more creative than women.

Um, no I just skip the ones that I'm not interested in....

"These people are treating partnership purely as a business transaction and nothing else..and they expect rapport to be able to develop in that context."

Rapport does develop in many business transactions. It's one of the driving forces of business actually.

However marriage is a business transaction. Actually I have no issue with the blind date in question asking those questions. Really isn't she being honest? Would she have liked similar questions from the man? How often are you going to wear lingerie, how often are we going to have sex, how often will you exercise, when we are fine dining three or four times a week how often will you dress up nicely? And so on?

If she were able to handle such questions in kind, and agree to an exchange, his needs for her needs, and then more importantly live up to them mutually (both of them) I see no fault. Still I think I hope for too much don't I?

Kind Regards,
Joseph James Frantz
